The
very same system which runs on any Windows-based PoS terminal also runs
on any handheld computer running WindowsCE or Windows Mobile.
This
makes StoreTrader ideal for those environments where a handheld is a
useful addition to the counter-top tills, or even where the best option
is a handheld. For example, Virgin Trains selected StoreTrader for the
Pendolino trains which run on the East Coast line, where StoreTrader
Mobile powers the handheld PoS on the refreshment trolleys. It also
runs on the touchscreen terminal in the convenience store in each
train. Here the handheld is docked in its cradle to update the
StoreTrader Store Server with the refreshment trolley transactions.
Since the StoreTrader user interface on both the handheld and in the
shop, staffing flexibility is improved. At the end of each train’s day,
when it is back at its home station, StoreTrader updates a
specially-designed stock re-ordering and sales reporting system and the
train is accurately restocked for the next journey.
StoreTrader Mobile
manages PoS transactions on the handheld device, and stores these until
it is connected wirelessly or docked in a cradle attached to a
StoreTrader Server running the Mobile Server module. This transfers the
transactions as if the handheld was a networked PoS terminal.
The
Mobile Print Server provides support for multiple StoreTrader handhelds
to share a receipt printer, so that customers can get receipts from a
single point in the store. You can also use StoreTader Mobile to check stock - a single product, or a group, or a selection - and for booking in deliveries.
The handheld connects wirelessly with the till or the store server and
you can quickly scan all deliveries and enter the quantities. No need
to dock the unit - the system has updated the stock levels and
everything is checked in.
