Installing and using StoreTrader Pharmacy Edition

Hardware  StoreTrader works best on touchscreens, but you can also run it with a keyboard and mouse. It will run on any version of Windows on a PC including CE  and Windows 7 but we prefer XP Professional. You'll also need a barcode scanner (we recommend Datalogic QD2130), a receipt printer (Epson TM T88V is best) and a cashdrawer. We can supply all this or you may be able to use your existing kit.

Broadband internet  While not strictly essential you'll need this to run our StoreTrader Live service (which delivers your C+D updates, and system support).

Links to suppliers  You'll need a standard dial-up line for StoreTrader to send electronic orders to your suppliers. We just need your account number for AAH, Unichem or Enterprise to set you up.

Product data update  We'll supply C+D updates over the  broadband link, but if you have other suppliers sending you regular data updates via spreadsheets, csv files or XML, we need to know about them so we can feed them into the system automatically.

Conversion  If you have another EPoS system or a cash register you may want to bring some data (such as product descriptions) across to StoreTrader. More likely you will want to do a complete stock check of the shop using our handheld to scan each item. That way you will have an accurate reflection of what products you've got in the shop and precisely how much stock of each.

Configuration  Almost anything you want to change in StoreTrader - the till layout including preser keys, what you print on a receipt, how you handle returns, what reports you print at end of day and much more - you can change through the Configuration Wizard, or with Rules and promotions. We'll lead you through these settings and you can change them at any time.

Training  StoreTrader is designed to be intuitive. Half an hour's introduction is all most shop assistants need to know their way round the till, and you can use Training Mode to try out anything unfamiliar knowing it won't change anything on the system. For larger groups we run training classes to cover the essentials efficiently.

Implementation  Cutting across from one system to another can be harrowing, particularly where space is tight. We'll help by installing the hardware we provide and ensuring all the connections work, and your staff are comfortable with how to use it.
